Foam Forms

This project is an exercise in form and spatial hierarchy, exploring the relationships created through the composition of a three-body rectangular form. Each composition is made up of three distinct elements: a Dominant, Subdominant, and Subordinate form. Rather than treating the three shapes as equal, the project focuses on establishing a clear hierarchy between them through differences in scale, position, orientation, and proportion.

The placement of each form is intentional, creating moments of tension, balance, overlap, and separation. The Dominant form establishes the primary visual presence of the composition, while the Subdominant supports and responds to it without competing for attention. The Subordinate acts as a smaller, more subtle element that completes the relationship between the three forms.

Through these arrangements, the project investigates how simple rectangular geometries can produce different spatial experiences depending on how they interact with one another. The goal is to highlight the relationships between the three shapes, rather than focusing on any single form independently. Each composition demonstrates how hierarchy and spatial organization can transform basic geometric elements into a cohesive and dynamic whole.
